Historical Excellence Princeton University

Princeton University is the fourth oldest college in the United States. It was chartered in 1746 and named The College of New Jersey. It retained this name for one hundred and fifty years until 1896.

The college moved to Princeton in 1756. In 1896 when programs were extended it received university status and became know as Princeton University.

Princeton became coeducational in 1969 and in 2005-2006 enrolled 6,935 students.

Princeton unofficial motto is “ In the Nations Service and in the Service of all Nations.”

Princeton’s main campus is approximately eight million square feet it consists of one hundred and fifty buildings on five hundred acres of land. This includes Springdale Golf Course, Lake Carnegie, and ownership of right of way roads. Read the rest of this entry »
